Poly Prep After School Sustainable Horticulture Program started in 2007 when Poly Prep teacher Elijah Sivin asked Marni Horwitz, of Alive Structures, to teach interested students basic principles in landscape design, native plant selection, sustainable gardening practices, as well as introduce them to green roof and green wall infrastructure.Poly Prep students installed a butterfly garden in previous years with their science teacher. The after school program will expand the butterfly garden, install a rain barrel irrigation system, and install a compost bin.
